Buying Guide

How buying from TORIDORI SELECT works, from the product page to the parcel on your doorstep. We are a shop in Tokyo: every order is packed and posted by us. For the formal wording, see our Shipping & Returns.

At a glance

  • Ships from Tokyo, Japan by Japan Post. Both services are tracked.
  • In-stock items are dispatched in about 3–5 business days. Pre-orders go out after the maker’s release date.
  • Shipping is charged at cost — Japan Post’s own rate, with no handling fee added.
  • Everything is priced and charged in US dollars. Import duty and VAT in your own country are yours to pay.
  • No cancellation fee. Tell us before your parcel goes out and we will do what we can.

How to order

  1. Choose your items

Every product page tells you whether the item is in stock with us now or is a pre-order for a release still to come. A pre-order shows the month the maker has announced.

  2. Check the shipping cost

The exact cost appears at checkout as soon as you enter your country. To see it before you commit, use our Shipping Calculator — it reads the same rate table the checkout does.

  3. Pay

The methods open to you are shown at the payment step. Charges are made in US dollars. Enter your full name and complete address in English, matching the details your card issuer holds — a mismatch is the most common reason an order is held up.

  4. We pack and post

You get an email with your tracking number the moment the parcel leaves us.

About the photographs. Manufacturer images may show a prototype or a painted sample. Small differences in the finished product, and slight variation between individual items, are normal.

Shipping

The two services

Economy

Japan Post Air Packet

  • The lower-cost option
  • Tracked
  • Up to 2 kg per parcel

Express

EMS

  • The fastest we offer
  • Tracked and insured
  • Up to 30 kg per parcel

We do not use FedEx or DHL. An order over 2 kg goes by Express, because Economy cannot carry it.

How the cost is worked out

We add up the weight of the items in your cart, add 150 g for packing material, and round up to Japan Post’s next weight step. Japan Post’s published yen rate is then converted to US dollars. Nothing is added on top — no handling fee, no packing charge.

What it usually comes to

Examples by Economy, with the 150 g of packing already included. These are illustrations, not a price list: your own items and destination decide the figure you see at checkout.

Your order China, Korea & Taiwan Rest of Asia Europe & Oceania USA Latin America & Africa
One keyring or acrylic stand approx. 150 g $6.13 $6.60 $8.27 $10.80 $9.60
One prize figure approx. 500 g $8.80 $9.80 $13.07 $16.40 $16.53
Two figures approx. 1 kg $12.13 $13.80 $19.07 $23.40 $25.20
Three figures approx. 1.5 kg $15.47 $17.80 $25.07 $30.40 $33.87

The Europe & Oceania column also covers Canada, Mexico and the Middle East. Every other country is priced in the calculator.

By Express (EMS), that same single 500 g figure is $11.67 to China, Korea and Taiwan, $16.00 to the rest of Asia, $24.33 to Europe and Oceania, $29.73 to the USA, and $28.00 to Latin America and Africa.

Inside Japan

A flat US$7.00 to any address in Japan, whatever the weight and wherever it is going. That includes forwarding and proxy services such as Buyee, ZenMarket and Tenso, which many overseas customers use to combine several Japanese shops into one international parcel.

When it goes out

  • In stock — dispatched within about 3–5 business days of payment.
  • Pre-order — dispatched after the maker’s release date, once the stock reaches us.
  • Both in one order — the whole order ships together once the pre-order arrives. If you want the in-stock items sooner, order them separately.

How long a parcel then takes depends on the service you chose and on the post and customs in your own country. Both services are tracked, so you can follow it the whole way.

Payment

  • The payment methods open to you are shown at the payment step of checkout.
  • Everything is priced and charged in US dollars (USD). Your bank or card issuer may add its own currency conversion fee, which we never receive.
  • Payment is taken in full when you place the order, pre-orders included. We do not take deposits or part-payments.
  • We add no fees of our own beyond the item price and the shipping shown at checkout.

Import duty and VAT. Whatever your own country charges to bring a parcel in is the recipient’s to pay, and is not part of what you pay us. We declare the true contents and value; we cannot mark a parcel as a gift or write down its value.

Pre-orders

A pre-order reserves an item the maker has announced but not yet released. Japanese makers open reservations months ahead and produce to the number reserved, so a pre-order is often the only chance to get an item at its retail price.

  • The date on the product page is the maker’s announced date, and makers do move them.
  • If a date moves, we email you. If the new date does not suit you, tell us and we cancel the pre-order and refund you in full.
  • If a maker cancels a release outright, we refund you in full.
  • Payment is taken when you order, as it is for anything else.

After you order

What we send

Every item is new and officially licensed, bought from Japanese makers and official retailers. We do not sell replicas. Items are checked before dispatch and packed with protective material inside an outer box; figures are sent in their factory packaging.

Tracking

Your tracking number is emailed to you at dispatch. Tracking can sit still for a while without anything being wrong, especially while a parcel is with customs.

If something is wrong

Email support@toridoriselect.com within 7 days of delivery with photos of the item and its outer packaging. For a faulty, damaged or incorrect item we replace it or refund you, and we cover the return postage.

Changing your mind

Considered case by case. The item must be unopened and in its original packaging, and the return postage is yours. An opened figure cannot be resold, so we cannot take those back. Please write to us before sending anything.

Cancelling

Orders are prepared quickly, so cancelling after you have ordered is not always possible — but there is no cancellation fee when we can do it. Contact us as soon as you can, and before dispatch we will do what we can. Once a parcel is with Japan Post it has to run its course.

The full conditions are set out in our Shipping & Returns.
